Members of the IBA and PIBA recently voted to merge both organisations. The new organisation which represents both General Insurance and Financial Brokers is called Brokers Ireland. A new Brokers Ireland website will be launched shortly.

Róisín Clarke

Róisín Clarke, PIBA



Róisín has worked in the Life, Pensions & Mortgage industry in Dublin since 1991, having first been a director in one brokerage, and then setting up her own company in 2003.

Her previous careers were in education – Maths & Economics teacher at secondary school level in Dublin, followed by 12 years working, in a voluntary capacity, with an international humanitarian organization.

As a native Gaeilge speaker from the west of Ireland she conducts business in either English or Irish - whichever language is required by the customer.

Languages, music & cross country skiing feature high on Róisín’s list of interests.

Since 2009, Róisín has served on both the PIBA Mortgage and Business Development sub-committees and was elected as a director and company secretary of PIBA in May 2013. Róisín was elected as vice-chairman in 2014 and currently holds the position of Chairman.

Rodney Croly

Rodney Croly



Rodney Coly is Managing Director of R. J. Croly & Co. Ltd. a composite life and general brokerage that was established in 1984. Rodney has been a member of PIBA since 1997.

Rodney started his career in Friends First in 1972 before moving to National Mutual, initially as an inspector and finally as manager of broker /direct sales force. Rodney is a member of both the LIA and the Insurance Institute and holds the designations of QFA and FLIA.

Rodney served on the General Insurance sub-committee for a number of years prior to been elected to the main PIBA Committee in May 2012.

Rodney’s wife Sylvia is a director of and holds an active role at R. J. Croly & Co. Ltd. Rodney has a keen interest in aviation industry and has held professional pilots licences. He is also involved in church activities and has held a number of leadership roles. Rodney is a member of the Dun Laoghaire Royal Irish Yacht Club and enjoys summer holidays spent sailing and hill walking and skiing during the winter months.

Cathal Coates

Cathal Coates, PIBA



Cathal began his career in the Financial Services Industry 26 years ago working in Irish Permanent Building Society. After 10 years with the bank Cathal worked with a number of leading Intermediary firms in senior management roles. During that time he was involved in various sectors of the financial services market including Life / Pensions, Wealth Management Home / Commercial Mortgages and General Insurance. Cathal co-founded BRM Financial Services in March 2008.

Cathal has served on a number of sub-committees within PIBA since 2009 & also served on the Board of Drumcondra Credit Union 2012 – 2013.

Cathal is married to Jennifer, they have 4 children and lives in Portmarnock, Dublin. He is a keen sports fan and enjoys running, cycling & golf.

Ciaran Blackall

Ciaran Blackall



Blackall Financial was established to offer broad based financial advice to Doctors, Business Owners and Senior Executives.  Ciaran has 30 years' experience in Financial Services, and continues a tradition started by his father Harry, who also worked for more than 30 years in the Financial Services industry.

Ciaran started his career in New Ireland in 1985, then moved to Standard Life as an inspector, was Business Development Manager in Davy Stockbrokers, was also Director of an Accountancy Wealth Management practice, before setting up Blackall Financial in 2010.

Ciaran is a member of both the LIA and the Insurance Institute, holds the designations QFA. RPA.SIA. and has also has completed qualifications with DBS, and the SIAI.

A keen cyclist, Ciaran is delighted to have been involved with the National Charity for Breast Cancer Research, by participating in their "Into the West" 300 kilometre cycling challenge in 2009, 2011, and 2012.

Duncan Duke

Duncan Duke



Duncan has been an adviser and director of Inverdea Financial Services Ltd since co-founding the brokerage in 2003. He originates from Australia and has been working in the Insurance business in Ireland since 1997 starting with Hibernian Insurance.  He lives and works from Wicklow Town.

Duncan has been a member of PIBA since 2003 and joined the Financial Broker sub-committee last year. He is also a director of IFS Trustee Services Ltd which is a pensioner trustee service company based in Wicklow.

He is a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) and recently graduated from The Retirement Planning Adviser diploma (RPA). In his spare time he is an active Leinster branch Rugby referee, member of Wicklow Golf club and a committee member of the Wicklow Rugby Club. He is married to Catherine and they have two boys.

Dermot Martin

Dermot Martin



Dermot started his career with New Ireland in 1981 and became a Sales Manager at New Ireland Assurance. Whilst he enjoyed this role he felt it was not customer focused and always wanted to work for himself and offer a more personal service to his clients. Dermot established Mortgage & Investment Brokers in 2002 and been a member of PIBA since then.

Dermot is also a Director of Kenya Orphan Aid Ltd who raise funds to support abandoned children who have AIDS in particular in the Nyumbani Orphanage in Kenya. Kenya Orphan Aid have a child education sponsorship fund, and a building fund, 100% of all contributions go to the childrens benefit. Every year for the past 9 years through separate funding they have managed to bring 14-21 children on a holiday to Ireland.The objective of the charity is to continue to fund for the needs of vulnerable abandoned orphaned children in Kenya with AIDS and all funds go towards the childrens needs i.e. no admin, travel or other expense deductions.

Samantha Nagle

Samantha Nagle, PIBA


Samantha started her career in the financial services industry 20 years ago and having worked in number of large intermediaries, she established Aspire Financial Services in 2011.
Since 2012, Samantha has served on the PIBA Sub Committee of PR & Communications and was elected to the main PIBA Committee in May 2015.
Samantha has a degree in Management from GMIT and has recently completed a higher diploma in Smurfit’s Business School.  She is a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) and also has a Mortgage Practice diploma and professional cert in General Insurance through Life Insurance Association.
Samantha is a keen sea rower and a member of St. Michael’s Dun Laoghaire Rowing Club, having taken part in the Celtic Challenge, Ocean to City Race, The Great Thames River Race, etc. She has also taken part in a number of multi-disciplinary race challenges.

Joe Bruen

Joe Bruen, PIBA


Joe established Bruen Financial Services in 2009, continuing a 75 year family tradition of independent financial services in the midlands and west.  Joe has 15 years financial services experience working with the likes of AIB, Bank of Ireland, New Ireland Assurance and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants. 
He has an honours undergraduate degree in business from the University of Limerick, an honours master’s degree from UCD and has also obtained his QFA and FLIA qualifications through the Life Insurance Association.

Joe joined the PIBA PR & Communications sub-committee last year and was elected to the main board as Director in May 2016. He is a keen Liverpool fan and a Connacht Rugby season ticket holder for many years. Joe is married to Caitlin and they have 3 young children.

Mark Nugent

Mark Nugent, PIBA


Mark started his career in banking in 1999 working initially as an underwriter with AIB and then Irish Nationwide before progressing to the role of advisor within Bank of Ireland, a role which he continued when he joined IFG in 2002. Mark then established his own financial services firm in 2004 trading as Next Step Financial before incorporating as KNOW Finance Limited in 2015.

Mark became involved with the PIBA sub-committees in 2012; firstly joining the PR and Communication Sub Committee before moving to the Compliance and Legislation Sub Committee in 2013 of which he is now chairperson. Mark was then elected to the main board as Director in 2016.

Mark holds an Honours Degree in Business Studies and is an accredited product advisor in Life Assurance, Pensions, Savings and Investments. Mark is also a member of the LIA.

Mark is married to Antoinette and they have two young children. A keen Liverpool fan, Mark also enjoys keeping fit in his personal time.
